About the project<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

              The\nBowdish lab has received funding from the Canadian Institute for Health\nResearch (CIHR) to study immune responses to SARS-CoV-2 infections and\nvaccinations in older adults including those living in long-term care. The\napplicant will use over 10,000 biobanked saliva, PBMCs, and serum from over 500\nparticipants in addition to participant metadata and detailed infection records\nto;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Uncover novel correlates of\nprotection in older and frail adults, including, but not limited to, ACP, ADCC,\nand cellular immune responses.<\/li>
  2. To understand why immune\nresponses are not always protective in older adults and may contribute to\nsubsequent infections.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    The successful\napplicant will have significant leeway to develop an independent research\nproject based on their interests and expertise. \nThe applicant will work closely with an experienced technician and a\ngraduate student, external collaborators, and will have access to biostatistics\nexpertise.  If interested, there will be\nopportunities to teach undergraduate courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The initial\ncontract will be for one year, with the possibility of extending for more\nyears, depending on productivity. The position is funded, but the applicant\nwill also apply for internal and external funding sources.
